Good Work Monday: The Rifle's Spiral

"The Rifle's Spiral" by The Shins

So, this is one of my new favorite videos.
After Katie and I watched it rather compulsively for a few days,
I stumbled upon the next video which shows how they made it.
A clip worthy of Good Work Monday if I've ever seen one.
I really love showing Katie all the different kinds of "art" that exist.
An inspiration, all of it.

Good Work Monday: Louis Schwartzberg

On Flowers and Bees:
"Beauty and seduction, I believe, are nature's tool for survival.
Because we will protect what we fall in love with."
~ Louie Schwartzberg

This is a clip from Schwartzberg's Ted2011 talk. He has devoted his professional career to photographing pollinators up close. If you've spent any of the last month complaining about the pollen dirtying up your car, please watch this video and fall in love with the dance of life of which we are all a part.

Good Work Monday: Woodmouse

"The things which the child loves remain in the domain of the heart until old age.
The most beautiful thing in life is that our souls remain over the places where
we once enjoyed ourselves." ~ Khalil Gibran

Good Work Monday: MV Knits

"What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us."
~ Julia Cameron

So I guess this means my dreams of being a writer/shephardess are totally do-able, right? Right?
Happy Monday, everyone! May you find your work that feels like play.

Good Work Monday: Maurice Sendak

"Herman Melville said that artists have to take a dive. And either you hit your head on a rock
and you split your skull and you die OR that blow to the head is so inspiring
that you come back up and do the best work that you ever did.
But you have to take the dive.
And you do NOT know what the result will be."
~ Maurice Sendak

Good Work Monday: Rob Ryan

"Ask yourself, 'If all jobs paid $2 an hour, what job would I want to do?'
When you answer that question, start doing it, even if you have to do it for free at first."

~ Greg Aldrik

Whether you're happily engaged in the most inspired, groundbreaking, creative work of your life or you're trudging along at a job that can't eat up the hours fast enough, we could all use a little extra inspiration on a Monday. So I offer you a new addition to the blog: Good Work Monday.
